Two hours away from Bumala is the MCC’s newest campus, Kakamega, situated in Pius’s hometown. The community organized to create a preschool for one hundred students, many of whom are also AIDS orphans, after they learned it would be infeasible to send the children to Nairobi or Bumala. They use a partially finished church for the classrooms. There are currently three volunteer school teachers and one volunteer school master. Students who complete the preschool (all do) can continue on at a local elementary school.
